IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa senior tight end Allen Reisner has been named to the 2010 John Mackey Award mid-season watch list. The list was released today by the award’s sponsor, the Nassau County Sports Commission. The award goes annually to the nation’s best collegiate tight end.
Reisner, a 6-3, 248-pounder from Marion, IA, has started every game this year for the Hawkeyes. He has caught 19 passes for 229 yards (12.1 average) in helping Iowa to a 5-1 start. He is considered an excellent blocker with outstanding ball catching skills. He has played behind all-Big Ten tight ends Brandon Myers and Tony Moeaki the last two years.
Former University of Iowa tight end Dallas Clark won the Mackey Award in 2002.
The Hawkeyes are currently ranked 12th nationally and face 10th ranked Wisconsin Saturday, at 2:30 p.m., in sold out Kinnick Stadium.
