Ferentz Live

IOWA CITY, Iowa – One quick-pass football team down, another quick-pass football team to go. That’s what Kirk Ferentz will talk about today at 12:30 p.m. when he meets the media inside the Hayden Fry Football Complex for their weekly chat.

The nationally ranked Iowa Hawkeyes travel to Evanston, Ill., Saturday for a date with the Northwestern Wildcats, a team that has had good fortune in recent years against the Hawkeyes and whose offense is similar to last week’s opponent – Indiana – in that it thrives on quick strikes in the passing attack.

The Wildcats have completed a league-leading 72 percent of its pass attempts. Dan Persa, the trigger man for Northwestern, has completed 73 percent of his attempts, is averaging 251 yards of passing offense per game, and has an impressive 13 to 3 touchdown to interception ratio.

But the Wildcats aren’t one dimensional. They’re averaging 150 yards a game on the ground. Iowa is averaging 159.

Ferentz’s visit — which is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. Iowa time — will be available live and exclusively from start to finish to subscribers of Hawkeye All-Access, the multi-media portal inside hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
