Hawkeyes Visit Hope Lodge

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa soccer team recently visited the Russell and Ann Gerdin American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Iowa City to spend time with both cancer patients and their support systems. Many of the student-athletes played games and talked to the guests about their own stories.

“It was fun to help out at the Hope Lodge for the evening,” Head Coach Ron Rainey said. “The team met many people who are battling or have been touched by cancer. It was a great experience to spend time with them.”

The Hope Lodge is dedicated to providing a home-like environment for their guests and the caregivers. The community dining, living and family rooms are part of the amenities offered. Guests also have access to a library, exercise and laundry facilities in addition to cancer programs and services that provide support and resources free of charge.
