IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa’s men’s swimming and diving team is ranked in the top 25 in the most recent TYR/CSCAA Men’s Division I Poll. Iowa enters the polls this week ranked 22nd after a fast start to the season. The Hawkeyes have a record of 3-1 overall, 2-1 in the Big Ten.
“Clearly the end of the year finish is the focus,” said Head Coach Marc Long. “However, being recognized for the current competitiveness of the men’s team is outstanding. It also reflects the 20-3 dual meet record our men’s team has achieved over the past two and a half years.”
The Hawkeyes are one of six Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25. The others include Ohio State (7), Michigan (8), Minnesota (13), Indiana (14) and Purdue (21). Iowa was last ranked 22nd in the country following the team’s 156-142 victory over 20th-ranked BYU in 2003-04. The Hawkeyes ended the 2004 season 8-4 overall and tied for 28th in the NCAA.
