- 24 Hawkeyes to Watch
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa head women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder will meet the media at 2:45 p.m. this afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Bluder will talk about her 22nd-ranked Hawkeyes come-from-behind win at Minnesota last night before addressing Saturday’s match-up against No. 20 Ohio State.
Bluder’s news conference will be available live and exclusively from start to finish to subscribers of Hawkeye All-Access, the multi-media mortal inside hawkeyesports.com, the official World Wide Web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Iowa picked up its first Big Ten win of the season, rallying from a 13-point second half deficit to down the Golden Gophers, 63-57, on Wednesday night at Williams Arena. Senior Kachine Alexander became the 27th player in school history to reach the 1,000 career point milestone in the victory, finishing with 20 points and eight rebounds.
The Hawkeyes will entertain No. 20 Ohio State on Saturday afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in a game televised nationally by CBS. It is “Kachine Alexander Bobblehead Day” with the first 1,000 fans receiving the souvenir and another 500 fans winning theirs as a result of being given a winning scratch-to-win ticket as they entered the Arena.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game,” said Bluder following the win in Minneapolis. “You have two top-25 teams against each other in Carver; I know we’re going to have a great crowd. It’s on CBS — national television — and I don’t remember the last time Iowa women’s basketball was on CBS. This is a great opportunity for us.”
In addition to live coverage of each of Bluder’s weekly press conferences, subscribers to Hawkeye All-Access also have exclusive access to the weekly visits with the media of UI men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery, live and exclusive coverage of McCaffery’s and Bluder’s post-game media conference after home events, live and exclusive coverage of the weekly “Hawk Talk” radio shows of Iowa’s men’s basketball and women’s basketball coaches, and, of course, the live play-by-play of every Iowa women’s basketball game featuring Brent Balbinot and Shelley Till, and all men’s basketball and wrestling events.
