IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior guard Kachine Alexander is one of 30 NCAA Division I women’s basketball players named to the 2010-11 Naismith Midseason Top 30 list. The announcement was made today by the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Board of Selectors.
Alexander was initially named to the Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch list in November, which included 50 student-athletes. The Atlanta Tipoff Club trimmed its list to 30 players Monday.
Alexander also made the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 20 list earlier this season, after being named to the Wooden Award Watch list during the preseason. She is still on the Wade Trophy Watch list.
Alexander is averaging 14.4 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. She has eight double-doubles this season and is the top rebounding guard in all of NCAA Division I basketball. She also became the first Iowa player, and just the fifth in Big Ten history, to record 1,000 career points, 800 career rebounds and 300 career assists.
Most recently, Alexander fueled Iowa’s comeback win at Northwestern, netting 19 of her 22 points in the second half.
Alexander and the Hawkeyes return to action Wednesday when they host Wisconsin at 7 p.m.
