KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team carded a 318 (+30) Monday during the second round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic. The Hawkeyes 36-hole score of 630 (312-318) places them in a 21st place tie with Wofford entering Tuesday’s final round. Miami (FL) (593) is in first, followed by Campbell (600), Florida International (601) and Western Carolina (601).
Junior Chelsea Harris provided the Black and Gold’s best second round score, carding a 76 (+4). Other second round scores included a pair of 80’s (+8) from sophomore’s Kristi Cardwell and Gigi DiGrazia, an 82 (+10) from senior Laura Cilek and an 84 (+12) from senior Lauren Forbes.
Entering the third round, Harris is tied for 52nd with a 36-hole score of 155 (79-76). Cilek, who led the Hawkeyes with a first round 74 (+2), is one stroke behind Harris at 156 (74-82) and is tied for 61st place.
The third and final round will be completed tomorrow at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Play will begin at 7:45 a.m. (CST).
