Freeman and Rydze Earn Berths to NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Iowa women’s divers competed in the one-meter springboard competition at the NCAA Zone `D’ Championships Saturday afternoon on the University of Texas campus.

Senior Deidre Freeman earned her berth to compete at the NCAA Championships on the one-meter springboard with a fourth-place finish. Freeman scored 592.45 points.

Junior Veronica Rydze also competed in the one-meter event. She placed 11th overall with a score of 534.90. Rydze earned her berth to the NCAA Championships in the three-meter springboard (644.60) with a third-place finish at last night’s competition.

Freshman Lauren Kelba will compete in the platform diving event tomorrow to finish up the competition.

Freeman and Rydze will head back to Austin, Texas March 17-19 to compete at the 2011 Women’s NCAA Championships. The University of Texas will host the event at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
