PRIMM, Nev. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team played two rounds Monday at the Jackrabbit Invitational. The Hawkeyes fired a 612 (307-305, +44) while playing on the par 71 Lakes Course at Primm Valley Golf Club. Iowa enters Tuesday’s final round fourth out of 14 teams and trails Oral Roberts (295-290=585, +17), Missouri State (292-296=588, +20) and Oakland (315-296=611, +43).
“Considering our golf clubs didn’t arrive in Las Vegas until 3:30 a.m. this morning, I wasn’t even sure if we were going to get to play in this tournament,” said Head Coach Kelly Crawford. “So I am proud of the team and how they handled the adversity. It was a stressful couple of days and we’re right in the hunt. I expect we’ll play more relaxed tomorrow.”
Sophomore Kristi Cardwell and junior Chelsea Harris paced the Hawkeyes during the first 36-holes. Cardwell carded a 151 (78-73, +9) to finish the day tied for 12th place. Harris ended the day in a 15th place tie after shooting a pair of 76’s (152, +10).
Seniors Laura Cilek and Lauren Forbes and sophomore Gigi DiGrazia are all tied for 29th after posting 156’s (+14). DiGrazia is competing as an individual at the event. The Hawkeye scorecard was rounded out by freshman Woojay Choi’s 160 (83-77, +18). Senior Brianna Coopman recorded 161 (77-84, +19) while competing as an individual.
The tournament’s third and final round will begin Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. (CST). Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
