COLUMBIA, Mo. – The women’s soccer team concluded the spring season in Columbia, Mo. Saturday, taking on Missouri. Iowa downed Mizzou, 3-1.
Missouri repsonded with a score in the second half, but the tie didn’t last long. Freshman Alex Melin put Iowa back on top with a goal from 25 yards out.
Iowa’s attack pushed up the field, but a Hawkeye was fouled in the box. The foul gave Iowa a penalty kick opportunity and sophomore Stefani Campbell converted the chance into a goal.
“This was a great way to end the spring season,” head coach Ron Rainey said. “We responded well on the road after our trip to Kansas. The team was excited with their play today, as were the coaches.”
