IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa volleyball team wrapped its spring competition schedule at the Minnesota Spring Invitational last weekend in Minneapolis. The Hawkeyes fell to North Dakota State and conference rivals Wisconsin and Minnesota before finishing the tournament with a three-set win over North Dakota.
“I think our spring season was productive,” said head coach Sharon Dingman. “Our mental, physical and emotional toughness improved drastically. The players really committed to all the right things this spring. Did we see the results of that in our competition? I think we did other than we didn’t win these last couple of weekend as much as we wanted, but we certainly saw improvements in areas we desperately needed to improve. I’m excited about the spring season for sure. It was fun to watch the young kids grow up and play in pretty critical roles.”
Iowa’s four-week spring season included a home sweep over Truman State and Western Illinois March 26. The Hawkeyes then recorded a win and four ties at the Badger Spring Invitation April 2 before falling at Valparaiso April 9. The Minneapolis trip was Iowa’s last of the spring season. The Hawkeyes will battle through one more week of practice before the end of spring training.
