IOWA CITY, IOWA — the University of Iowa men and women’s swimming and diving teams have earned national academic awards. The Hawkeye women’s team was named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division I Academic All-America team for spring 2011 and members of both the men’s and women’s squads earned individual honors.
The women’s squad was named to the spring 2011 Scholar All-America team. The Hawkeyes ranked 74th on the list of 104 teams in the country and posted a team GPA of 3.22.
Divers Deidre Freeman and Veronica Rydze earned individual Scholar All-America accolades for their outstanding academic achievements and performances at the NCAA Championships.
Manuel Belzer, Sean Hagan, Kyle Noser and Donny Warren of the men’s team and Katarina Tour and Caitie Polz from the women’s team were recognized as individual Honorable Mention Academic All-Americans for having a 3.6 or higher GPA and having posted an NCAA `B’ qualifying time.
