Freeman Places 7th in 1-Meter at Diving Nationals

LOS ANGELES — Former Hawkeye Deidre Freeman placed seventh in the 1-meter springboard at the AT&T USA Diving National Championships, which were being held at the Spieker Aquatics Center at UCLA.

Freeman posted a score of 230.80 in the competition. In the prelim/quarterfinal portion of the event, the Grinnell, Iowa, native finished fifth to advance to the finals, posting a score of 256.15.

Freeman also competed in the 3-meter springboard, where she placed 23rd with a 236.25 total.

Freeman and current UI diver Veronica Rydze also placed eighth in the 3-meter sychronized springboard event, finishing with a 231.60 point total. Rydze also dove individually in the 1-meter springboard, finishing 32nd with a 172.70 total.
