Hawkeyes in Europe - Day 10 by Kalli Hansen

Aug. 17, 2011

Hey Hawk fans!

Today was a great day in Paris! Our day started off with a bus tour around the city. It started off on a bad note when the microphone in the bus for our tour guide didn’t work, but it magically started working about 15 minutes after we decided to give up on it!

We hit all the main spots in Paris on the bus tour. The bus stopped at the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Hotel des Invalides (Napoleon’s tomb). We were able to get out and take pictures at all the locations. My favorite spot was probably the Eiffel Tower. Even though I plan on going back at night, it was really fun to be that close to the tower with all of my teammates. The bus tour was a great way to see all the sights in a short amount of time.

After the bus tour, a group of us went shopping at all the popular shops in Paris. I’m not that big of a shopper…I can’t say the same for Hannah and Megan. Those two are pretty intense in the shopping game!

Even though I’m not a huge fan of shopping, I really enjoyed the souvenir stores. I bought some shirts for family and friends and we found a big Nike store on the Champs Elysees. I bought some gifts there as well.

For dinner, we ate at a small local place down the street. I had something called Grecks. It was a beef sandwich with thinly sliced beef and French fries. It’s really good!

We have the entire day to ourselves tomorrow. Some of us are planning to hit up the Louvre and the Opera House (the place that the Phantom of the Opera was based off of). I’m a big dance and theatre fan so I CAN’T WAIT to see the Opera House!

Thanks for following and GO HAWKS!
