IOWA CITY, Iowa — Attention Hawkeye fans. Be sure to check out “Gameday Live” for every Iowa football game this fall. The new and improved format includes team, game, radio and television information, live blog, Gametracker and Twitter feeds. “Gameday Live” is the one-stop-shop for the most passionate Hawkeye fan on game days. Being able to utilize additional social media applications will allow fans to connect with other Hawkeye fans in various platforms throughout the country and world.
The Official Iowa Football Game Day Blog will be live in Iowa City this weekend for Iowa’s season opener versus Tennessee Tech.
During the game, staff of the Iowa Athletic Communications Office will be manning the Official Iowa Football Game Day Blog and Twitter (@TheIowaHawkeyes) from the press box to provide up-to-the-minute notes and stats about the game. Also, Hawkeye fans are encouraged to tweet their gameday photos to @TheIowaHawkeyes. Selected photos will get retweeted.
One change to the blog this year is that it will not focus on game play-by-play, but instead highlight big plays and provide pertinent information surrounding the game. Play-by-play will be provided by Gametracker which will be found on the same web page as the blog.
The blog will continue to include pregame videos and in-game photos, while fans have the opportunity to voice their opinion by submitting questions and comments and answering polls. The blog includes numerous features, including prize giveaways every week. Any fan who signs up for a blog e-mail reminder will automatically be registered to win that week’s prize. The e-mail reminder is on the left side of the page in the blog box.
This week, fans can register to win two pairs of tickets to the Iowa-Pittsburgh football game (winners must pick up tickets at game and tickets are non-transferable). Also, one finalist will be selected for a pair of tickets to the first Heroes Game, Iowa vs. Nebraska on Nov. 25 in Lincoln, Neb. (winner must pick up tickets at game and tickets are non-transferable). There will be one winner selected from the finalists selected during the first 11 games of the season.
Fans who sign up for an e-mail reminder will also be added to the “Hawk Talk Daily” e-newsletter list. “Hawk Talk Daily” is the new official daily e-newsletter from the UI Athletics Department.
Saturday’s game will be televised nationally on the BTN with Tom Werme, former Hawkeye Danan Hughes and Stacey Paetz calling the action.
A reminder, due to the volume of entries, not everyone’s questions or comments can be posted. The live blog will begin at approximately 10:15 a.m. (CT) and run throughout the game. Click on the link at the top of this story to join the “Gameday Live” experience on Saturday.
