IOWA CITY, Iowa — Head Coach Steve Houghton and the University of Iowa men’s tennis program announced the signing of three prep student-athletes. Andres Estenssoro, Matt Hagan and Alejandro Rios signed National Letters of Intent to compete for the Hawkeyes this season.
Hagan, from Creighton Prep High School in Omaha, Neb., is a Nebraska state singles and doubles champion. A four-star recruit, he was ranked second in the four-state Missouri Valley section. Hagan finished undefeated last season for Creighton Prep with a Class A No. 1 singles title. He chose Iowa over Nebraska and Illinois.
Estenssoro, from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, was the No. 2 ranked singles player and top-ranked doubles player in Bolivia. He was recruited by many schools, including Tulsa, Louisville and Wichita State.
Rios, from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, was ranked No. 7 in Bolivia and was a national doubles champion.
“I believe this is a very strong recruiting class,” said Houghton. “All three student-athletes have a good opportunity to contribute immediately. They all have high ceilings.”
