Game Day: Iowa Entertains Pitt

Sept. 17, 2011

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa football team returns to action inside historic Kinnick Stadium today with the back half of a home-and-home series with Pittsburgh of the Big East Conference. The Hawkeyes will be looking for their second win in the series; the Panthers hold a 3-1 advantage in head-to-head meetings, a mark that includes a 21-20 win at Pitt in 2008.

“They have good players in all three phases,” Kirk Ferentz told the media that assembled at his Tuesday visit about the unbeaten Panthers.

“I think they’ve gotten off to a good start which is really impressive considering they’ve changed philosophically. They’re al different football team than when we played the last time. It’s certainly going to be good to be back at Kinnick.”

If you’re heading to the game, drive carefully, celebrate responsibly and, of course, be loud and proud and wear gold: It’s the annual “Be Bold, Wear Gold” game..
