Hawkeye Men Finish 9th at Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Iowa men’s cross country team finished ninth at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark. The Hawkeyes posted a team score of 220 in the 32 team meet.

Oklahoma State, ranked number one in the nation, won the 10K event with a score of 25. Southern Utah senior Cam Levins won the individual title, crossing the line in 29:13.

All-American Jeff Thode finished first for the Hawkeyes and 17th overall. The junior finished with a time of 30:12. Thode was followed by junior Nick Holmes (38th, 30:43), freshmen Kevin Lewis (51st, 30:59) and Evan Selsor (77th, 31:26), sophomore Nick Young (84th, 31:34), sophomore Jon Michael Brandt (96th, 31:52), freshman Ben Witt 102nd, 31:57), junior Cameron Reiger (112th, 32:04), and freshman Nikolai Mondragon (190th, 33:52).

The men’s cross country team will return to action Oct. 30 at the Big Ten Championships in Champaign, Ill.
