IOWA CITY, Iowa. — Three University of Iowa soccer players have been recognized for their efforts during the season. Senior Emily Moran was named to the Big Ten’s all-Tournament team following the team’s appearance in the conference tournament Nov. 2, while freshmen Cloe Lacasse and Melanie Pickert were recognized by TopDrawerSoccer.com on the 2011 Women’s Freshmen Top-100 list.
Moran, a native of Kent, Ohio, is the team’s veteran goalkeeper. The three-year starter made four stops in the quarterfinal against Michigan State and tallied 87 saves on the season. Moran is Iowa’s all-time career wins leader (35), season individual victories leader (13), ranks second on the program’s all-time career saves list (350) and sixth on the season saves list (99, 2010).
Lacsse, a Sudbury, Ontario native, is No. 22 on the TopDrawerSoccer list. The Hawkeye newcomer earned recognition earlier in the season as one of the Top 20 Freshman to Watch, published by the same website. The freshman is the team’s leading scorer with 12 goals and six assists for 30 points. She ranks among the program’s leaders in season individual goals and points.
Pickert, a native of Canton, Mich., is No. 77 on the list. Pickert has started every game of the season for the Hawkeyes as a defender. The newcomer and her fellow defenders held opponents to 17 goals through 20 games, boasting a 0.82 goals allowed against average. Pickert and the Iowa defense also recorded eight shutouts.
