Yeager Earns CoSIDA Academic Honor

Nov. 10, 2011

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa sophomore Bethany Yeager has been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District volleyball team. The announcement was made today by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Yeager, a sophomore human physiology major from Brenham, Texas, has been Iowa’s starting libero since arriving on campus in 2010. Her consecutive starts streak stands at 56 matches. Yeager led Iowa and ranked fourth in the Big Ten averaging 4.36 digs per set as a freshman. Her 4.30 digs per set average this season leads the Hawkeyes and ranks sixth in the conference.

“Bethany is very deserving of this honor,” said Iowa head coach Sharon Dingman. “She is a wonderful example of what a student-athlete should be. She’s committed to her studies and is as great a competitor as you’ll find anywhere. She’s a tremendous asset to our program and a great representative of the University of Iowa.”

Yeager is now eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America team, which will be announced Dec. 15, 2011.
