KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — University of Iowa senior diver Veronica Rydze placed fourth in the semifinals of the 1-meter springboard at the USA Diving Winter National Championships and World Cup Trials. The competition is being held at the University of Tennessee’s Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
Rydze was the highest placing collegiate diver, finishing with 248.10 points. She moves on to compete in the finals of the event tomorrow evening at 6 p.m.
Former Iowa diver Deidre Freeman also competed in the event, and she finished fifth with 246.85 points.
Rydze and Freeman will also team up to compete in the women’s 3-meter sychro event on Tuesday.
