KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — University of Iowa senior Veronica Rydze and former Hawkeye Deidre Freeman placed fifth in the 3-meter synchronized springboard event Thursday at the 2012 USA Diving Winter National Championships and World Cup Trials.
The duo finished with 519.30 points, 132.30 points behind Abby Johnston and Kelci Bryant, who won the title with 651.60 points.
The 3-meter sychro wrapped up a successful championship for Rydze and Freeman, as it was their second top-10 showing. Both divers advanced to the finals of the 1-meter springboard with Freeman tallying a third place finish (274.90) and Rydze placing seventh (258.38).
