DES MOINES, Iowa — The University of Iowa men’s tennis team was defeated by No. 43 Drake 7-0 on Wednesday evening at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
The Hawkeyes picked up a victory in No. 1 singles with sophomore Michael Swank and junior Garret Dunn picking up a win. The tandem defeated Drake’s Cesar Bracho and Alen Salibasic, 8-6. Bracho and Salibasic are ranked No. 31 in doubles. Swank and Dunn have a 4-3 record playing in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Dunn, who entered the match with five consecutive singles victories, won one set against Salibasic in No. 4 singles, but couldn’t pull through for the win. Drake swept Iowa in singles matches.
Iowa will begin Big Ten action this Sunday, hosting No. 18 Illinois at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. Start time is set for 2 p.m. (CT).
