THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s golf team opens play at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational tomorrow. The University of Hawaii is hosting the two-day, 54-hole tournament at the 5,907 yard, par 72 Kane’ohe Klipper Golf Course on the Marine Corps Base in Kane’ohe, O’ahu, Hawaii. The 14-team field will tee off at noon (CT), with 36-holes being completed Tuesday and the final round held Wednesday. Live scoring will be available on the women’s golf schedule page at hawkeyesports.com.

QUOTING HEAD COACH Megan Menzel
“I am very excited for our team to have the opportunity to compete in Hawaii this week. Kaneohe Klipper is such a beautiful setting by the ocean and is a golf course that will definitely test our games. It will be a great challenge to play one shot at a time and stay positive since most likely we will face some wind and wet conditions.”

THE LINEUP
Senior Chelsea Harris, juniors Kristi Cardwell and Gigi DiGrazia, and freshmen Lauren English and Shelby Phillips will compete for the Hawkeyes. Coach Menzel has penciled in the same lineup in all seven of Iowa’s tournaments this season. Freshman Nicole Rae will play as an individual.

THE COMPETITION
Iowa will be joined by 13 other teams including; Coastal Carolina, Gonzaga, Hawaii, UH-Hilo, Idaho, Montana State, Northern Colorado, North Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State, UC Davis, UTEP and Washington State.
