Rydze Places 17th on Three-Meter

AUBURN, Ala. — University of Iowa diver Veronica Rydze finished 17th on the three-meter springboard during the second day of the 2012 Women’s Swimming and Diving NCAA Championships inside the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.

Repeating an appearance at the NCAA Championships, Rydze posted a score of 303.05 on the three-meter springboard to place 17th in the event. The Iowa City native just missed out on qualifying for finals after the 16th place qualifier recorded a score of 303.75.

Freshman Becky Stoughton will represent the Hawkeyes at the final day of the NCAA Championships. Stoughton will compete in the 1,650 free. The Peoria, Ill., native holds the school record in the event with a time of 16:14.14. She placed sixth overall in the event at the Big Ten Championships. Saturday’s prelims session will begin at 11 a.m.
