March 19, 2012

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa sophomore gymnast Tesla Cox has been named second team All-Big Ten. The announcement came today from the Big Ten office.

Cox competed on bars and beam in every meet this season, and on vault in all but one competition. The Greenville, S.C., native recorded a season best score of 9.850 vs. LSU on March 9, only to top that mark with a career best 9.900 on March 3 vs. Texas Woman’s University, BYU and Southeast Missouri State. Her 9.900 was good enough to win the event title on bars.

According to GymInfo rankings, Cox is ranked third in the North Central region and tied for 38th in the NCAA on bars. She is also ranked 20th in the North Central region on beam and 26th on vault.
