Nationally Ranked Hawkeyes Set to Host Musco Twilight

THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa track and field team hosts the 13th annual Musco Twilight Saturday. The meet will be held at the Francis X. Cretzmeyer Track and is set to begin Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

IN THE RANKINGS
The men’s track team is ranked 18th in the USTFCCCA national rankings.

MUSCO ON BTN
The 13th Annual Musco Twilight Meet will air on BTN Sunday, May 6 at 5 p.m. Mike Wolf, Craig Virgin, Rebecca Haarlow and Kenny McReynolds will call the action from Cretzmeyer Track.

AMONG THE NCAA TOP TEN
The Hawkeyes are ranked in the NCAA top 10 in five events. Senior Troy Doris is ranked third in the triple jump. Doris reached the 53-6 1/2 (16.32m) mark at the Battle on the Bayou on April 7. Senior Erik Sowinski currently ranks fourth in the nation in the 800 meters. Sowinski ran a school record setting time of 1:47.02 at the Battle on the Bayou. Senior Jeffery Herron’s school record setting performance in the high jump (7-4 1/4; 2.24m) currently ranks third in the nation. Herron recorded the mark at the Battle on the Bayou. Freshman Gabe Hull’s discus toss of 188-8 (57.52m) ranks tenth in the nation. Hull recorded the mark at the Tom Botts Invitational on April 14. McKenzie Melander’s 5,000 meters time of 15:57.13 is currently ranked fourth in the nation. Melander ran the personal best time at the Stanford Invitational on April 6th.

SENIOR DAY
The Hawkeyes will recognize 19 seniors Saturday. They include: Matt Banse, Nick Brayton, Dan Davis, Troy Doris, Jeffery Herron, Chase Kadlec, Nick Kuczwara, Ryan Lamparek, Patrick Richards, D’Juan Richardson, Erik Sowinski, Graham Valdes, Danielle Berndt, Nicole Erickson, Betsy Flood, Jackie Laesch, McKenzie Melander, Kelsey Mims, and Kelsey Quinn.

MEN TAKE INVITE TITLE
The men’s track and field team took the Tom Botts Invitational title on April 14. The event was hosted by Missouri. The team tallied 252 points and earned nine first place finishes.

BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS
All-session tickets for the Big Ten Outdoor Championships May 11-13 are on sale now at http://www.uwbadgers.com/sports/m-track/spec-rel/041612aab.html. Single-session tickets will be available at the gate.

MEET THE RECORD HOLDERS
Six Hawkeyes on the 2012 roster account for seven individual school records. They include: Justin Austin: 100m (10.21) and 200m (20.31) Danielle Berndt: 3,000m Steeplechase (10:26.54) Matt Byers: Javelin (245-8; 74.89m) Troy Doris: Triple Jump (54-0; 16.46m) Jeffery Herron: High Jump (7-4 1/4; 2.24m) Erik Sowinski: 800m (1:47.02) Jeff Thode: 1,500m (3:43.02) Majesty Tutson: Discus (172-4; 52.52m)

The Hawkeyes will head to Des Moines, Iowa, for the Drake Relays on April 26-28.
