IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa junior Garret Dunn has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District team. The announcement was made today by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Dunn, a junior from Tempe, Ariz., earned a 4.0 grade point average while majoring in finance and accounting. Dunn won seven matches competing with Michael Swank at the No. 1 doubles position, including three wins over nationally-ranked doubles teams. He was named Iowa’s Most Valuable Player after posting a 10-10 dual record and leading Iowa with Big Ten victories.

“Garret has developed into an excellent Big Ten singles and doubles player,” said head coach Steve Houghton. “His academic achievements are off the charts. We’re very, very proud of him.”
