Iowa Divers Advance to 3-Meter Synchro Finals

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Former University of Iowa divers Veronica Rydze and Deidre Freeman advanced to Thursday’s final in the 3-meter sychro at the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials on Sunday at the Weyerhaeuser Fins County Aquatic Center.

Rydze and Freeman sit in third place after accumlating 531.90 points in the preliminaries and semifinals. Abby Johnston and Kelci Bryant lead the way with 637.80 points, narrowly ahead of Kassidy Cook and Christina Loukas, who are second with 631.29 points.

The pair will resume competition in the finals on Thursday night beginning at 7 p.m. One 3-meter synchro team will earn the U.S. bid to London.

Freeman will compete individually on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the preliminaries of the women’s 3-meter springoard. The semifinals will then take place at 7 p.m. the same day.
