Freeman Finishes 18th in 3-Meters at Olympic Trials

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Former University of Iowa diver Deidre Freeman finished 18th in the women’s 3-meter springboard on Tuesday at the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials at the Weyerhaueser Fins County Aquatic Center.

Freeman, a native of Grinnell, Iowa, sat in 14th place following the morning preliminaries, accumulating 266.55 points. In the semifinals, the former UI All-American posted a score of 234.20 to finish with a total of 484.65.

Cassidy Krug and Christina Loukas are first and second, respectively, in the event heading into the finals. Krug has a 718.85 total, while Loukas sits at 679.65.

Freeman and Veronica Rydze will compete in the finals of the 3-meter synchro on Thursday night at 9 p.m. (CT). The duo currently sits in third place in the competition with 531.90 points.

The action will be televised live on NBC beginning at 9 p.m. (CT).
