FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Former University of Iowa divers Veronica Rydze and Deidre Freeman finished fourth overall in the 3-meter synchronized diving event at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Thursday night at the Weyerhaueser Fins County Aquatic Center.
The duo accumulated 794.82 points over the course of the preliminaries, semifinals and finals to finish 161.58 points behind the winners. Abby Johnston and Kelci Bryant claimed the bid to London in the event, finishing with 956.40 points, .42 ahead of Kassidy Cook and Christina Loukas.
The 2012 U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials will begin on Monday. The Hawkeyes will have 13 individuals representing the program in Omaha, Neb.
