GymHawks Earn Season High 195.325 on the Road

University Park, Pa. — The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team totaled a season high 195.325 for second place in the quad meet with Penn State (195.500), Pittsburgh (193.575) and Rutgers (193.225) on Saturday night.

Sophomore Emma Willis earned a career high 39.200 all-around score, placing second behind Penn State’s senior standout Sharaya Musser (39.575). Freshman Alie Glover scored a career high 38.825 for fifth.

“We finished last week extremely disappointed,” said head coach Larissa Libby. “We wanted to improve on the road by a point in Big Ten country, and that’s exactly what we did. While we’re still not satisfied, this is a great confidence booster as we head into Michigan.”

The Hawkeyes had another strong start on the bars, tallying 48.750. Senior Emma Stevenson led Iowa with a 9.800, while sophomore Sydney Hoerr earned 9.775. Senior Kaitlynn Urano, senior Maya Wickus and Willis recorded 9.725.

The Hawkeyes stayed calm and collected on the beam, earning a season high 48.725. Willis led Iowa on the beam with a career high 9.825. Urano earned a career high 9.800, and freshman Kyra Trowbridge recorded 9.775. Iowa also counted a 9.700 from Glover and a 9.625 from sophomore Jessica Morreale.

The Hawkeyes moved to the floor, scoring a season high 48.950. Stevenson paced Iowa with a season high 9.875, tying for the event title. Willis earned a season high 9.825, while Trowbridge and Urano recorded 9.800. Glover stepped out-of-bounds but scored 9.650.

Iowa closed on vault with 48.900. Willis anchored and led the Hawkeyes with 9.825. Wickus recorded 9.800, while Glover and freshman Alyssa Lopez tallied 9.775. Iowa also counted Trowbridge’s 9.725.

Next week the GymHawks travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to take on No. 1 Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 2. Action is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. (CT) inside Crisler Arena.
