Johnson Earns Academic Accolade

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior center Morgan Johnson has been named a Capital One Academic-All District selection. Johnson was one of five players in District 6 to earn the honor, given by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Johnson’s name will now appear on the Capital One All-America ballot.

The Platte City, Mo., native is a Human Physiology major. Johnson, who is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, was also named to the Capital One Academic-All District selection as a sophomore. She is a member of the Dean’s List and has been given the Presidential Committee on Athletics award three times.

On the court, Johnson leads Iowa in scoring with 15.2 points per game. She ranks eighth in the league in scoring, eighth in rebounding and fifth in blocks. Johnson averages 7.4 rebounds per contest and has 42 blocks this season. Johnson has scored in double-figures 17 times this season, including eight games with at least 20 points, and has earned six double-doubles

Johnson is Iowa’s all-time blocks leader (267). She also ranks third in career games started (117), seventh in career rebounds (792) and 12th in career scoring (1,427).
