IOWA CITY, Iowa — Mediacom will televise the University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team’s home dual against rival Iowa State on Friday night. The event will be shown live at 7 p.m. on Mediacom Connections (MC22) throughout the state of Iowa, and parts of Illinois and Missouri. Former GymHawk Jessa Hansen will call the action.
The Hawkeyes can clinch the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series for Iowa with a victory on Friday. Iowa currently leads Iowa State, 12-9, with Friday’s meet and softball (May 1) left to be played. The Cy-Hawk Series is in its ninth season and is sponsored by Iowa Corn for the second time. The 12-event series awards two points (except football, which is worth three) to the winning school in each head-to-head match-up. Additionally, one point is given to the institution if its student-athlete graduation rate is greater than the national average.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness. The competition, which concludes Iowa’s homestand, is also Senior Night. The seniors will be honored following the conclusion of the dual.
