Betulius & 200-Medley Relay Garner All-America Recogition

INDIANAPOLIS — The University of Iowa men’s swimming and diving team earned honorable mention All-America honors in a pair of events on day two of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

Sophomore Grant Betulius swam a time of 46.34 seconds to finish 13th and earn honorable mention All-America honors. He bettered his prelim time (46.35) and was just off his school record time of 46.33 seconds, which he set Thursday in the opening leg of the 400-medley relay.

Betulius was also a member of 200-medley relay that garnered honorable mention All-America honors. The sophomore along with junior Andrew Marciniak and seniors Byron Butler and Jordan Huff swam a time of 1:26.42 during the consolation final to finish 16th overall.

The Hawkeyes closed out the session by tallying a 27th-place finish in the 800-freestyle relay. Huff, freshman David Ernstsson, Butler and Betulius posted a time of 6:29.96.

Iowa sits in 26th place with 14 points. Michigan holds the lead with 336 points, California and Arizona sit in second (301.5) and third (234.5).

Action resumes tomorrow with preliminaries beginning at 11 a.m. (CT) at the UI Natatorium.
