Free Youth Football Clinic Scheduled for April 27 at Kinnick

April 5, 2013

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The UI Athletics Department and the Iowa Football Club are teaming up to give youngsters an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game of football on the state of Iowa’s biggest football stage: Historic Kinnick Stadium.

The 2013 Kamp Kinnick youth instructional clinic will be staged on Saturday, April 27, prior to the Iowa football team’s annual spring practice inside the home of the Hawkeyes. The clinic will begin at 9 a.m.; the football team’s open practice will begin at 2 p.m.

Elementary-aged boys and girls will receive instruction from former Hawkeyes beginning at 10 a.m. when they will open the clinic by doing the same “Tunnel Walk” and “Swarm” the Hawkeyes do on game days. The instructional clinic will continue on the playing field until 12:30 p.m. when UI head football coach Kirk Ferentz will speak to the group.

Admission to the clinic is free and all participants will receive a souvenir t-shirt and a tour of the Iowa football team’s game-day locker room. To register your son or daughter, or grandson or granddaughter, click HERE. Registration is limited to 250 clinic participants.

Kamp Kinnick is staged by the UI Athletics Department with the support of former University of Iowa football student-athletes.
