IOWA CITY, Iowa — Former University of Iowa diver Deidre Freeman capped off the AT&T Diving National Championships with a gold medal in the 3-meter springboard event. It was Freeman’s second gold in as many days and her third medal of the championship.

The Grinnell, Iowa, native scored 303.40 points to claim the women’s 3-meter title a day after winning gold in synchronized 3-meter. With a silver medal on 1-meter as well, the former Hawkeye All-American finished the week as the women’s high point award.

“I was really comfortable on the boards today,” said Freeman, who represented the U.S. at the FINA World Championships last month. “When I was out there, I just told myself, `This is my pool.’

“Getting the high point award says a lot. I’m really just now starting to get to a high point in my career. I’m starting to peak, but I know I still have a lot of room for improvement. It has been an amazing summer.”
