ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team fired a 305 (+13) in the final round today to finish 12th in a field of 16 teams at the Branch Law Firm-Dick McGuire Invitational. The Hawkeyes carded a 54-hole score of 927 (+51).
Freshman Jessie Sindlinger was Iowa’s top finisher in the tournament, recording a 223 (+4) to tie for 18th place.
Sophomore Briana Midkiff fired one over par in today’s final round to finish tied for 51st place. Midkiff’s three-round total was 233 (+14).
Junior Shelby Phillips carded her best round of the tournament, shooting a 77 (+4). Her tournament total of 236 (+17) earned her 62nd place.
Junior Nicole Rae had a strong final round, firing four over par. Her 54-hole score of 239 (+20) tied her for 67th place. Senior Karly Grouwinkel tied for 73rd, recording a 242 (+23).
The Hawkeyes travel to Austin, Texas, on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 to compete in the Challenge at Onion Creek.
