IOWA CITY, Iowa – The UI Athletics Department is teaming with U.S. Cellular to provide fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes an opportunity to get their picture taken on the field at historic Kinnick Stadium.

The first “Football Photo Friday at Kinnick” will be staged Friday, Sept. 27. Fans will be invited into Kinnick at two different times: From noon until 3 p.m. and again from 4:30 until 6 p.m. Fans of the Hawkeyes should enter Kinnick Stadium at the gates for the U.S. Cellular Big Ten Champions Plaza located in the southeast corner of the home of the Hawkeyes.

Fans do not need to bring their own cameras to Kinnick. Photography will be provided by U.S. Cellular, the official wireless provider of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Fans will leave Kinnick Stadium with one photograph compliments of U.S. Cellular and a code that will provide them the opportunity to print additional copies of that photograph from a secure web site.

“Our fans are the backbone of our program and many of them have, over the years, expressed an interest in having this opportunity, so we worked closely with U.S. Cellular to find a day that would provide for a good test. We’re optimistic that we’ll have a nice turnout and that this first activity will result in additional opportunities in the future,” said Rick Klatt, associate athletics director for external relations.

Fans of the Hawkeyes interested in participating in Friday’s activity are encouraged to park in the public parking ramp located at the corner of Hawkins and Evashevski Drive. They are also reminded that the flat-surface parking lots adjacent to Kinnick Stadium and the UI Recreation Building are permit-only parking and fans parking in those lots may be ticketed.

The Iowa football team travels to Minneapolis this weekend for its 2013 Big Ten Conference season opener against Minnesota on Saturday. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m., Iowa time. The annual battle for Floyd of Rosedale will be televised live to a regional audience by ABC. Fans of the Hawkeyes who don’t have access to the game on ABC will be able to watch it on ESPN2.

Iowa’s next home game is Oct. 5 when the Hawkeyes entertain Michigan State in the UI’s annual Homecoming event. That game is also the Hawkeyes’ annual Black and Gold Spirit Game. Kickoff is set for shortly after 11 a.m., Iowa time and tickets are available by calling 1-800 IA-HAWKS or online HERE.
