IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa volleyball team fell to No. 13 Nebraska, 3-0, on the road on Wednesday night. The Hawkeyes drop to 10-11 overall and 1-8 in Big Ten play with the loss.

The Hawkeyes fought to keep the score within striking distance in set one, 8-6, with a pair of Alex Lovell kills, one kill apiece from Rachael Bedell and Alessandra Dietz, and a Bedell and Dietz block, before the Cornhuskers took control outscoring Iowa 10-4 to pull ahead by eight.

The Hawkeye offense fought back with a four-point run, fueled by a kill and service ace from Lovell and a kill from Bedell to cut the deficit in half, 18-14, but Nebraska kept Iowa from closing the gap to record the set one win, 25-19.

In the second set, Iowa stayed with Nebraska using a trio of Bedell kills and one kill apiece from Brobst and Alli O’Deen to keep the score within two early, 9-7. The Cornhuskers then used an 8-0 run to pull ahead. Iowa attempted a comeback late, but it fell short as Nebraska played to a 25-17 set two win. Four kills and a service ace from Bedell and three kills from Brobst led the late charge for the Hawkeyes.

Nebraska recorded a dominating 25-8 set three win to take the match from the Hawkeyes, 3-0. The Cornhusker offense hit an impressive .556 in the set, while the Hawkeyes were in the negatives. Bedell notched three of Iowa’s six total kills of the set.
