IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa men’s golfer Steven Ihm was named the Big Ten Conference Golfer of the Week, the league office announced today. The honor comes after Ihm shot 6-under par at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate in Dallas, Texas on Oct 28-29.
“Steve put together three solid rounds this week and beat a lot of quality players,” said UI head coach Mark Hankins. “With five top 20 teams in the field, he needed every birdie and a -6 performance to earn a top-10 finish.”
Ihm was the top Big Ten finisher at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate after shooting a pair of rounds in the 60’s en route to his 6-under score (71-67-69).
The honor is the third of Ihm’s career. He was also the last Hawkeye to earn Golfer of the Week honors (April 24, 2013).
Iowa placed sixth in the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate to close out its fall schedule.
