Logic Named Preseason All-Big Ten

Oct. 31, 2013

PARK RIDGE, Ill. — University of Iowa junior Samantha Logic has been named Preseason All-Big Ten by league media, the conference office announced Thursday.

“I am thrilled for Sam to get this preseason recognition,” said UI head coach Lisa Bluder. “Although it will not mean much to her, it means a lot to our program in that we are in capable hands with our floor general. She led the entire Big Ten in assists last year and also ranked in the top 15 in the country. Sam does so many things for us, even nontraditional point guard skills such as rebounding.”

Logic, a junior from Racine, Wis., started all 34 games last season and was a third team All-Big Ten selection. The 5-foot-9 guard set the school record for single-season assists (217) and single-game assists (14 vs. Texas, Dec. 28). Logic tallied five double-doubles, and led the Big Ten and ranked 15th in the NCAA in assists per game (6.4).

Iowa — the only Big Ten team to appear in the last six NCAA Tournaments — hosts Concordia-St. Paul in an exhibition Sunday at 1 p.m. before opening the regular season in the Hawkeye Challenge on Nov. 8 against UC Riverside (6 p.m.).
