Iowa (5-4, 2-3) fell to Wisconsin (6-2, 4-1) today, 28-9, inside Kinnick Stadium. The Badgers retain the Heartland Trophy and take a 43-42-1 lead in the all-time series.

The loss was Iowa’s first this season in trophy games. The Hawkeyes had previously won games at Iowa State (Cy-Hawk) and Minnesota (Floyd of Rosedale).

Iowa was minus-1 in turnovers today. The Hawkeyes are 0-4 when losing the turnover margin (Northern Illinois, -2; Michigan State, -1, at Ohio State, -1, vs. Wisconsin, -1). The Hawkeyes are plus-1 overall this season.

Iowa held Wisconsin scoreless in the first quarter. The Hawkeyes have held 8-of-9 opponent scoreless in the first quarter this season.

Iowa trailed at the half, 7-6. It is the first time this season Iowa did not lead at halftime.

Iowa was held without a touchdown for the first time this season.

K Mike Meyer kicked three field goals today (28, 22, 29). He now has 300 career points. He is only the second player in program history to score 300 or more points (Nate Kaeding, 373).

TE C.J. Fiedorowicz caught one pass today to extend his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 27. Fiedorowicz has 77 catches for 337 yards over the last 27 games, and has caught all eight career touchdowns during the streak.

S Tanner Miller intercepted a pass on Wisconsin’s first possession today. Iowa has recorded at least one turnover in 8-of-9 games this season (10 interceptions, 5 recovered fumbles).

LB James Morris recorded a game-high 12 tackles, including two tackles-for-loss and one sack. Morris now has 369 career tackles. He moved passed Tom Rusk (3361) for No. 7 on the all-time. Morris has been credited with double-digit tackle games 18 times.

Iowa had three players record double-digit tackle totals – LB James Morris (12), LB Christian Kirksey (11), and S John Lowdermilk (11). Morris has 18 career double-digit tackle games. Kirksey has been credited with double-digit tackles 12 times in his career. Lowdermilk’s 11 stops were a career high.

RB Jordan Cazneri had a 43-yard rush in the third quarter. It was the longest rush of his career, and Iowa’s longest rush this season.

QB C.J. Beathard relieved QB Jake Rudock in the third quarter today. It was Beathard’s second career appearance. He finished the game 4-16 for 70 yards and one interception. Beathard also saw action against Western Michigan (1-3, 54 yards).

Instant replay was used two times today.

1) C.J. Fiedorowicz 16-yard reception. Ruling on field was confirmed.

2) James White 2-yard touchdown run. Ruling on field was confirmed.

Iowa won the toss and elected to defer to the second half. In 2013, the Hawkeyes started on defense against Missouri State (W, 28-14) Iowa State (W, 27-21), Western Michigan (W, 59-3), and Wisconsin (L, 28-9). Iowa has started the game on defense in 35-of-183 games under Kirk Ferentz. The Hawkeyes are 19-16 in those games.

Iowa plays at Purdue on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. (CT). The game will be televised on BTN.
