Iowa Coach Postgame Quotes

Head Coach Kirk Ferentz

On the team’s performance…

“We’re thrilled to get the victory, and it didn’t come easy. Purdue played extremely hard like we thought they would. We’re thrilled to get the victory, and we’ll move into a bye week now.”

On the running game…

“We planned on being balanced. We knew we had a chance of winning and that’s not uncommon this time of year. I think that factored into it, certainly, but I was really happy the way the guys blocked out in the back, and they did a good job of running the football.”

On becoming bowl eligible…

“[I feel] really good. That’s not our end game, but that’s certainly one nice by-product of winning today. That’s not something we take for granted. It’s great to get that accomplished. We’ll regroup a little bit and get ready for our last two.”

On the second half…

“It’s just a matter of where your mind is at, and it’s all about execution. It’s not like we did any second-half drills. It’s just a matter of going out and playing better, and after the first half we needed to play better, and I think we did.”
