IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz has accepted an invitation to participate for the North squad in the 2014 Reese’s Senior Bowl. The Senior Bowl will be played Jan. 25 in Mobile, Ala. Practice sessions throughout the week, along with the Senior Bowl game, will be televised on the NFL Network.
Fiedorowicz is a 6-foot-7, 265-pound native of Johnsburg, Ill. He currently ranks third on the team in receiving with 23 receptions for 230 yards. He leads the Hawkeyes with five touchdown receptions. Fiedorowicz has at least one reception in 29 straight games, a streak that ranks second best in the nation among FBS tight ends. His career totals include 84 receptions for 830 yards and nine touchdowns.
Fiedorowicz earned honorable mention all-Big Ten recognition from league coaches and media a year ago. Earlier this season he was one of five tight ends from the Big Ten Conference named to the John Mackey Award Midseason Watch List. The College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) recognized Fiedorowicz for his play this season in games vs. Michigan State, Northwestern and Michigan.
Since the first Senior Bowl in 1950, more than 40 Hawkeyes have competed in the all-star event. WR Marvin McNutt, Jr., following the 2011 season, is the most recent Iowa player to play in the game. Fiedorowicz will report for the game during the weekend of Jan. 18-19, practicing in front of scouts representing all 32 NFL teams throughout the week.
Iowa (7-4, 4-3) concludes its regular season Friday at Nebraska (11:06 a.m., ABC) in the third annual Hy-Vee Heroes Game. The Hawkeyes are bowl eligible for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons and have won seven games or more for the fifth time in six years.
