Bowl Game Ticket Primer

Nov. 27, 2013

IOWA CITY, Iowa — It’s time to talk seriously about the process of purchasing tickets to the bowl game featuring the 2013 Iowa Hawkeyes

As a reminder, Iowa completes its regular season on Friday against Nebraska in the annual Hy-Vee Heroes Game. Kickoff is set for shortly after 11 a.m. CT at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. The game will be televised live to a national audience by ABC.

First, as always, the UI Athletics Department encourages fans of the Hawkeyes to purchase their bowl game tickets through the UI Athletics Ticket Office. By doing so, fans of the Hawkeyes will help the UI Athletics Department meet its obligation to the bowl game by selling the full allotment of tickets it assumes responsibility for when the UI accepts its invitation to participate.

Another important benefit of purchasing your bowl game tickets through the UI Athletics Ticket Office is, by doing so, fans know they will be “sitting among friends” on game day. Your exact seat location will be determined by your ticket priority, but you can rest assured that you will be located in the official University of Iowa section of the stadium…and cheering the Hawkeyes to victory is always more fun when you’re surrounded by black and gold!

Because of the Big Ten Conference will likely have multiple teams eligible for automatic qualification and/or selection by a Bowl Championship Series event, the final destination for the Iowa Hawkeyes most likely won’t be officially determined and announced until early in the evening of Sunday, Dec. 8.

The UI Athletics Ticket Office will begin accepting orders for tickets to the Hawkeyes’ bowl game on the night of Sunday, Dec. 8, after Iowa has officially accepted its bowl game invitation.

Once the UI has officially accepted its invitation and that invitation is officially announced, the UI Athletics Ticket Office will immediately begin accepting orders for tickets via its online ticket office portal inside hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Fans will simply need to click on the “Buy Tickets” link in the drop-down menu that appears when they scroll over the word “TICKETS” located at the very top and center of every page of hawkeyesports.com.

2013 UI football season ticket holders and fans who purchased single-game tickets during the 2013 season will also receive an e-mail on Sunday, Dec. 8 with more details about the game and direct links to the UI Athletics Ticket Office, official bowl game merchandise available at Herky’s Locker Room, and information about official bowl game tours sponsored by Winebrenner Travel and the UI Alumni Association.

On Monday, Dec. 9, the UI Athletics Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena will accept ticket orders over the phone at 1-800 IA-HAWKS and over-the-counter ticket orders.

The deadline to place an order and have your seat assignments determined by your ticket priority is Sunday, Dec. 15. The will be a limit of 10 tickets per order.
