THIS WEEK:
The University of Iowa men’s and women’s gymnastics teams will make their season debut at the Black and Gold Intrasquad on Sunday, Dec. 8, in Iowa City. The annual event will begin at Carver-Hawkeye Arena at noon (CT). Admission is free.

LAST TIME OUT–MEN’S:
The University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team completed its most successful season in nearly a decade under third-year head coach JD Reive in 2013. The Hawkeyes finished fifth nationally, marking the program’s best finish since 2000, and finished with three All-America honors, the most since 2005.

LAST TIME OUT–WOMEN’S:
Iowa made its sixth-straight NCAA appearance last season under head coach Larissa Libby and was one of just 36 teams to be invited to regional competition. This season there are six newcomers on the women’s roster; freshman Jordyn Doherty, Ashleigh Edlin, Amanda Kowalski, Caroline McCrady, Angel Metcalf, and Lexi Mura will be making their Hawkeye debut.

MEN’S HEAD COACH JD Reive:
Head coach JD Reive begins his fourth year as the head coach of the men’s gymnastics team. In first year at Iowa, Reive sent six gymnasts to compete individually at the NCAA Championships and led the team to four team records and five individual records. In 2013, Iowa finished the season with three All-America honors; the first time since 2005 the program has garnered three or more in a single season.

WOMEN’S HEAD COACH Larissa Libby:
Head coach Larissa Libby begins her 10th year as head coach of the women’s gymnastics team. She has led the team to six consecutive NCAA postseason appearances, and under her guidance, the team finished their 2013 homestand undefeated. Iowa was the only Big Ten team to defeat Minnesota last season, 195.725-195.550, and clinched the Cy-Hawk Series by taking down Iowa State with a season-best 196.375-194.575 on March 8.
