Hawkeyes Set for Spring Break

THIS WEEK
The Hawkeyes travel to St. George, Utah to compete at the BYU Entrada Classic on March 17-18. Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament at golfstat.com.

ABOUT THE COURSE
Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club is a private equity country club. The Johnny Miller Signature Design 18-hole championship private golf course weaves through ancient black lava flows and meandering streams, stretching across 7,085 yards.

SPRING BREAK WARM-UP
Prior to the BYU Entrada Classic, Iowa competes against Texas State in an exhibition at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas on March 15.

QUOTING COACH MENZEL
“Our spring break schedule offers us some strong competition and the opportunity to play a lot of rounds of golf,” said head coach Megan Menzel. “The team has been working hard this past week to strengthen our games and to get ready to compete at Entrada this next Monday and Tuesday. We have heard great things about the course, and we look forward to getting back to competition.”

HAWKEYE LINE-UP
Shelby Phillips, Jessie Sindlinger, Karly Grouwinkel, Briana Midkiff, Nicole Rae, and Allison Lindley will be traveling on spring break. All six golfers will compete against in the warm up against Texas State, while only five spots are available at the BYU Entrada Classic.

HAWKEYES SET SCHOOL RECORD
The Hawkeyes fired an 877 (+13) to establish a new 54-hole school record at the Westbrook Invitational on Feb. 23-24. The previous record was set at the Westbrook Invitational in 2012 when the team shot an 879. The Hawkeyes’ 36-hole score of 585 is good for third overall in Iowa history, and their 18-hole score of 291 ties for fifth.

STRONG START FOR PHILLIPS
Junior Shelby Phillips paced the Hawkeyes at the Westbrook Invitational. The Arizona native carded a three-round total of 216 to tie for 14th place and mark her third top-20 finish of the year. Phillips’ score also ranks third among Iowa’s all-time best 36-hole performances.

RETURN TO ACTION
Iowa returns to action at the Dallas Athletic Club Invitational on April 4-6. The 54-hole tournament will be hosted by the SMU Mustangs in Dallas, Texas.
