IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa director of track and field Larry Wieczorek announced Wednesday that Reno Tuufuli has committed to join the Hawkeyes in 2014.
Tuufuli attends Liberty High School in Las Vegas. He is the No. 3 ranked discus thrower in the nation, topping out at 196 feet, 10 inches. He is nationally ranked No. 20 in the shot put with a personal best 61 feet, 5 inches.
Tuufuli placed first at the U.S. Youth National Championships in the discus in 2013, hitting 195 feet, three inches to qualify for the 2013 World Youth Championships, where he placed seventh while representing Team USA in Donetsk, Ukraine.
