28 Hawkeyes Qualify for NCAA Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The NCAA announced today that 28 student-athletes from the University of Iowa have qualified for the 2014 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships. The NCAA first round will be held May 29-31 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at John McDonnell Field.

The men’s team is represented by a total of 18 qualifiers, made up of 13 student-athletes competing in 14 individual events and one relay. The men are seeded 10th or higher in four events, including the 400-meter relay, where the reigning conference champions earned the No. 3 seed.

Fifteen Hawkeye women qualified for 15 individual events and two relays. The Big Ten champion 400-meter relay is seeded eighth, and the mile relay is seeded 10th. Big Ten champion Elexis Guster is seeded No. 14 in the 400 meters, and Big Ten champion Khanishah Williams is seeded No. 36 in the high jump.

The top 12 individuals and relays from each event in the East and West preliminary sites move on to the NCAA Championships final round in Eugene, Oregon, on June 11-14.
